This video uses the bloodied shirt worn by Northern Ireland and Westminster MP Gerry Fitt on 5 October 1968 to explain the significance of this date in triggering what could be described as the beginning of Northern Ireland’s 1968. The video begins with some context provided by Dr Chris Reynolds of Nottingham Trent University before drawing on the reflections of protagonists from the time.
